Not losing, feeling discoraged

Recommended Posts

I am almost 5 weeks out and have not lost weight in 12 days. My weight has actually gone up a pound. Has anyone else experienced this? I have read sbout the 3 week stall, but I thought it would have broke by now. I have upped my calories the last few days to see if that would help. Just looking for someone with a similar experience and suggestions on what I could do. Thanks

yup, the majority of us have gone through the exact same thing. it is MADDENING, isn't it? the more times you go through a little stall, the easier it gets to trust the process and just keep following your plan, but no one really likes it.

right now my weight has been bouncing around the same few pounds and I am just about to cross a major goal. boo. maybe next week.

how are you doing at getting in your fluids and Protein? how many calories are you getting in? how much activity?

My 3 week stall lasted about 14 days. You'll get there, just keep following your plan. It's frustrating, but your body is working hard.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. We all experience stalls, and just about everyone stalls about three weeks post-op.

If you intend to lose a lot of weight, you will experience periodic stalls.

Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise. And, Embrace the Stall

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
