Survived the 1st wk of pre-op diet! (barely)

Recommended Posts

I lost 9.6 pounds this week, that's the only good thing I can say about this past week! I really really struggled last night. I was thinking of all the reason why I shouldn't go through with the surgery. I eventually went to bed at 8:00pm just to not think about eating anymore. Today is Memorial Day. I am going to a family get together where as usual the central focus is FOOD! And starting today, I get four Protein Shakes and NO FOOD! Lord help me get through this day (week)!

@@evelaine You are beginning a week of shakes ONLY? Yikes!! They don't do that at the hospital where I am having surgery! 2 weeks of 3 shakes, one Lean Cuisine type meal daily.

Hi, my name is Karen and I started my pre op diet yesterday too. I'm allowed my 3 shakes, a cup of salad with low cal Italian dressing and 2 cups of raw veggies if I so desire (which I have). I can also have some fruit, but I choose to stay away from that. The Water is the hardest thing for me, I have to pee every hour! If you need any support or just want to unload...let me know

Be Happy, Be Kind...it is worth it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
