NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted May 30, 2016 Hey all.... just a question that perhaps some of you have been through. Im really jittery and shakey, on the inside... I got home from work and was fine... had a fish filet (standard portion) for dinner with a tiny bit of tartare sauce (teaspoon) and around 30 min later i am jittery and shakey... it doesn't feel like dumping, i am very hydrated. .. so I'm not sure what this could be... it has me concerned as i feel odd... Obviously if this continues i will go to the doctor... but I'm curious to see if anyone else has had this..
Cujucuyo 34 Posted May 30, 2016 I used to have this at the beginning when I challenged my cravings and ate a spoonful of tuna, this turned to "sliming" and vomiting; are you sure you should be eating solid Proteins a month after surgery?
NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted May 30, 2016 Yes, i got cleared for solids at my post op appt... but we are allowed to have fish from when we are on soft foods... And ive had the same fish many times and things way more solid.. eg chicken... No sliming or discomfort.. comfortably satisfied. ... i don't know why though... it almost feels like my blood pressure or blood sugar is low
Cujucuyo 34 Posted May 30, 2016 It's probably a mild discomfort but if you feel it progresses over the next hour or so better consult with your doctor.

ButterflySeoul 98 Posted May 30, 2016 Do you have a kit to check your blood sugar? The jittery part makes me think low blood sugar. I have had that feeling once already, half way through a walk and tested when I got home... it was perfect- 101.....but perfect is new to my newly sleeved self lol. I know all the different hospitals/programs have different time lines, but I'm surprised too that yours clears for solids so early. I had surgery on Apr. 26 and still in puree stage. I go on thurs for my 1st follow up with he nutritionist. This is the protocol that I got- 1st 3 weeks full liquid... 4th week advance to puree.. 7th week soft foods.. months 2 and 3 - soft to regular.. etc.. good luck on your journey! NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) @@ButterflySeoul Yes programs vary quite a bit. We did puree once we were discharged from hospital for two weeks... one week soft foods then progressed to solids during the 4th week. We meet with the surgeon every time we progress to the next stage... my next appt is next week. I took your advice and tested by blood... i am 5.5mmol or 100mg after eating... but i never understand those things... is that normal or high? NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted May 30, 2016 Ok... so i thought this would completely pass after a good nights sleep... wrong... woke up this morning and the jittery feeling has returned.... i think its time to see a doctor after work.

LipstickLady 25,682 Posted May 30, 2016 I had a similar issue. I really think it's a dip and rise in blood sugar. At times I'd get 5 cups of coffee jittery, at other times I was utterly exhausted immediately - like an intense desire to close my eyes and fall into deep sleep - after eating. I've evened out for the most part now that I've started eating 5-6 times a day. If I go back to carbs, the feeling returns, so it's my uneducated opinion that it's sugar related. NeedaBreak4Me 1,755 Posted May 30, 2016 I think maybe its because i haven't been having any carbs or sugar, just Protein and Water... Maybe today i might add some good carbs and see if that helps a little... its just such an off feeling... at least with dumping i know what it is... this is just a shakey jitter weakness on the inside...its hard to describe
daniotra 298 Posted May 30, 2016 It very well could be your blood sugar is low. A little milk or yogurt can help when you feel that way. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
