Memorial Day Weekend .... Next Year

Recommended Posts

Thinking ahead to what might be realistic this holiday weekend next year. Not fantasy, but....possible, likely.

So, next year Memorial Day....I am going to be away for the weekend, to a seaside/beach location. The exact kind of place I avoid now bc right now I am only a spectator to everyone else's fun.

Next year, maybe I will go swimming, maybe I won't....depends on what I want to do. I will have a CHOICE. I will be in a perfectly nice one piece bathing suit with a gorgeous sarong tied around my waist, sitting outside by the pool maybe.....no more sitting by the pool in jeans and a t shirt and lying that "oh, no I am not too hot."

I will maybe be wearing a size medium or large (am 3x now), but no matter what size I am, I won't have to wonder if people are are staring at me for unkind reasons. When I walk into a crowded restaurant and walk between tables, I won't have to apologize again and again for bumping every table I walk between. Next year, maybe I won't be sweating when everyone else is not. Maybe my makeup won't sweat off.

It sounds reasonable to me. I am 3 years post-op RNY gastric bypass surgery. I went from a size 3X down to a size small in about 6 months. It is simply amazing how quick you can lose the weight.

James....is it hard for your head/thoughts to keep up with the changes in your body along the way?

I lost 100 lbs. and had to go see a therapist because I didn't recognize myself in the mirror. I was in therapy for two years. Not everyone needs professional help and not everyone has issues with body changes but lots of us do so good for you for thinking about this now.

That is a great 2017 Memorial Day list. [emoji631]Hopefully, as the year goes on, you will not have to think about fitting through tighter spaces, or what someone may be thinking of your size.

WLS does so much good for so many.... I am thankful

And I wish the same for others. It is a bit of a personal emergence to the different and healthier you.

Losing weight is fabulous.... But keeping it off for years (8 for me) is the kindest reward. The exact number you end up at may not be perfection, but still healthier and great for your emotional well being!

Best of luck and keep posting.

Make sure you take a good before photograph so that you have something to compare it with.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
