In week four post op and my 3oz chix gets cold before I can finish it. I think it depends on the viscosity of the food. I can eat a non fat Greek yogurt (4oz) in about 20 minutes but I still gotta go slow. Speed eating hurts.

I'm trying to see what others here find to be a time. I have been getting conflicting times from my surgeon, pcp, and nut.

I'm only two weeks out and just started the pureed phase, but I feel like I can eat my meals pretty fast. I actually have to take my time and go slow on purpose. Today for Breakfast, I had 1/2 an egg, some soyrizo, and an oz of refried Beans all mixed together. Eating with a baby spoon, I had to force myself to eat slow and it took me about 20 mins.

I've always been a fast eater my whole life. Slowing down after surgery is proving to be a bit difficult sometimes. I'm at work right now and unfortunately just got done with a dumping syndrome episode after eating some bbq rib meat from our picnic Sunday. Wasn't eating the fat, and was chewing it up pretty darn good, but my system just decided it didn't like it today, and off I went to the ladies room where it came back up. I just hate the horrible pain in the chest that occurs prior to dumping. It is so so painful, it makes me cry. I won't be eating anything else today for quite a while now. Gotta give my system a chance to recover from this. My chest still kind of hurts. Usually it instantly stops hurting once I vomit. Ugh. I hate this part.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
