Losing weight too quickly??

Recommended Posts

I am one week post surgery and today I weighed myself and I was shocked to see that I had already dropped 5.2kgs (11.4lbs?). :whoo:Is this too fast? I am scared that if I get excited about losing so much I am setting myself up for serious disappointment when it piles back on again. Is it normal too lose this much in the initial phase (still on liquids) and does it stay off or does everything come back once I move onto solids. I know that it proberly will never fall off like this again and I am okay with that, what I am not okay with is it all coming back again.

I am also one week post surgery and have lost about 14 lbs myself. I went to a support group at my surgeons office last night and was congratulated for losing so much. I think it has mainly been Water weight right now and I expect it to slow down soon.

My husband lost 12lbs his first week on WW. It's possible! Congrats on the great start!

Since humans are "ugly bags of mostly water" (to quote Star Trek)--maybe you had some excess liquid in your system.

It's completely normal. Just enjoy the ride and remind yourself of your concern when you get to mushies and solids and things slow down. In the end, it'll come out just perfect.

Yes, enjoy it while you can. I lost 20lbs of my loss in the first week or so.

Then I stalled for a while when I could eat again and before my first fill.

And so on and so on..

Sounding good. So does this mean I get to keep the weight loss and it won't pile back on?!?!? I am okay about slowing down only expected to lose at most 1kg (2lbs) a week anyway but was more worried about the weight coming back when I started to eat solids but by the sounds of it maybe I can Celebrate that 5 kilos is gone for good!!!!!

For me, it didn't come back -- just slowed substantially to the numbers you're talking about (2 lbs/wk).

I too dropped about 20 pounds the first two weeks or so. You gotta remember that a LOT of that is Water weight. I think that's probably the first thing that comes off... but I tell you what...you keep that Protein coming in and you will feel FINE. Keep you supplements up too. I never felt anything but WONDERFUL from day one. I am 2.5 months out and have lost a total of 34 pounds and it doesn't feel like it has come off fast at all, but it feels very natural. I'm down to about a pound (or two) a week, and that's fine with me.

i too dropped a fair amount by my two week check-in, 14lbs. which was a lot more than i expected, but for a couple of days i was not eating nearly enough to function - becuase i wanted to ride the tide of losing a lot in a hurry.

needless to say - that came to an abrupt end (low energy, spaced out all the time), and while i am careful about my intake (dare i say obsessive), i keep my Protein levels as high as i can tolerate - i do like the idea of the number on the scale continuing to go down.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
