So I am 6 days out from my surgery doing absolutely great. In about 8 days I am going to start the next stage which is soft food/puréed. My question to you is do I really need to purée the food or can I just make sure it's nice and soft and chew it really well?

I was never told to do puree, just soft food. At two weeks I had no problem with soft foods like canned tuna, avocado, eggs, etc. But if you are in doubt consult your nutritionist

It's recommended you purée it since your body may not digest soft solid food that easy during your recovery period. . Follow your guidelines in order to succeed .

plans vary. if pureed foods are not appealing to you talk to your NUT about soft foods.

my plan didn't have pureed stage.

it was Clear liquids in hospital. full liquids for 10 days to two weeks and then soft foods. boy was I ready!

but some pureed food choices are good. I made touchdown taco dip and ate it with a spoon. it's refried Beans on the bottom, and then a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream on top. the recipe is online with the spices and such. now at three months I can have it with salsa on top.

I made grilled chicken and red kidney Beans in Tomato sauce to purée. I truly enjoyed that during my first month

My mom said she didn't really purer she just chewed it for a very long time . One little piece at a time . My surgery is next week and idk how purée is going to go for me I feel like it would make me nauseous eating my food in a liquid form

I haven't pureed anything. I just chew soft food like eggs and tuna really well. Tonight I'm trying Cincinnati style chili which is soupier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
