I'm doing it all. It's so frustrating. Thank you for the reply.

Hi daisygirl10. .. when I had post surgery gas pain I had my husband pat firmly and quickly all over my back (like burping a baby but all over) it really helped move it. The pain was in my shoulder and under my ribs

OMG, was he brave! If my husband even looked like he was going to touch me, I gave him "the look" and he retreated!
VERY! But by day 3 and the pain not moving I was begging for him to do something... my parents are both nurses and they suggested it... not saying it was comfortable but the pain was worth the relief ????

Heating pad helps for gas pain

I had my revision from band to bypass on May 13th, having a tough recovery as I had complications but I trust it does get better. Hang in there

I had my surgery one week ago today, was discharged Friday and back in the ER on Sunday, for 9 hours for dehydration. It has not been a good week. I'm regretting this. I hope better days are ahead.

Oh, I do hope you'll begin to feel better. My Dr put a real fear in me about dehydration. He asked me to keep a log showing I was sipping Water that first day - 1 oz every 15 minutes I was awake, 2 oz days 3 and 4. It was difficult, both to remember to record it and to get that much in, but it made the first few days better, I'm sure.

I hope you're on the mend now and feeling better. This is major surgery and we can't expect it to be flawless, even when we follow orders.

Feel better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
