What's the 1st fill spouse to feel like?

Recommended Posts

After leaving the office I can constantly feel the band inside my chest. I'm six weeks post-op and just had my first fill today, and I also never had problems with keeping down food before.

Is this a normal feeling and does it go away? It's not painful but being able to constantly sense it is distracting me, it feels like I'm being squeezed.

Also, I'm told to only have liquids for 3 days. Each time I take a small sip of my Protein Shake it makes the sensation feel heavier and I'm burping several times each time. Does it get better after 3 days or should my band be unfilled? I've lost 19 pounds since the band was put in with no fill.

Have you gotten any better? How much did you get on your first fill? Was it done under flouroscopy or blind? Did you have to drink Water before you left the office?

After a long nap I didn't feel the presence of the band anymore. He wouldn't say when I asked about the amount, only that he used sterile Water and my band was originally empty. I said, "sterile Water or normal saline?" He said nothing because the nurse gave him NS. There was no flouroscopy, I drank water during and after the fill.

I didn't get my fill undone, although I did throw up 3 days in a row. I rode it out. Now I only feel hungry twice a day. I'm still losing weight and don't plan for another fill unless my weight loss stalls. bmi.png

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
