Yeah, I can see you'd have a problem after VSG surgery done to lose 35 pounds.

What does your surgeon advise?

My mother had this problem--she was sleeved a year & a half ago and lost around 150 lbs in the first year. She has a hard time eating a lot at a time w/ acid reflux. She's since gained 10-12 lbs, but is around 5'8 and 140. She kind of got scared that if she were to get sick, she'd lose more. Never thought that losing too much could be a problem until I watched her go through it. Good luck increasing calories!

I simply mean that sleeve surgery works to restrict severely the volume of food you can eat. That's why many people lose weight "effortlessly" for at least six months, sometimes losing 100 pounds or more during that time. Your profile looks like you wanted to lose only 35 pounds.

You have boarded a train that takes a long time to slow down. Eating high fat, high carb food would help to slow it faster.

Your surgeon may have better ideas.

When I hit my surgeon's goal (160) I started upping my calories in the form of more fat and whole grains. I kept losing and passed my personal goal (150) about 6 weeks later. I continued to increase my calories until I finally quit losing....20 pounds below surgeons goal and 10 pounds below personal goal. But I was still within normal BMI and OK with how I looked. I've recently lost another 5 pounds, but again, it's something I'm OK with.

Basically, if you don't want to lose anymore You have to start eating more.... nuts, nut butters, fruit, whole grains, and full fat dairy products are easy ways to add healthy calories.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
