Pre Op Diet

Recommended Posts

I just started my pre op diet today. UGG. Its so hard. I woke up this morning so hungry and all I could have was a dagum shake grrr. OH then the lovely shake and half sandwich for lunch. I am so looking forward to dinner. My 3 oz of lean meat, 1 cup of salad and 1 cup of non starchy veggie LOL.

Please tell me my tummy is gonna shrink and in a few days it wont be so bad. THe last 3 days is full liquid...cant wait for that!!

I can and will make it thru this...

It'll all be SO worth it when you get to start buying smaller clothes and you can climb stairs without needing CPR. :D One problem, however, the weeks post-op are much longer than a few days before. I hope you're ready for that. Have Jello, broth, popsicles ready and waiting for when you get home. :)

Yeah, what Leatha said.

The pre op diet is easier than the post op one, 'tis true. That diet before the band is taken in a spirit of excitement to be on your way, headed in the direction of a new life, a new lifestyle, and a new you. But after the band your mood changes to "let's get on with this already" and you hope that the Jell-o factory has a permanent power outage.

You can do it, girl. I did it and I have no willpower at all. So if I did it, anyone can. It will be hard, but we'll be here for you. And mine really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Keep your chin up.

Thanks everyone for the kid words of support. I was fixing my 3 year old some mini ravioli's earlier and i popped one in my mouth without thinking. I felt like I just committed a deadly sin or somethin'.

LOL...

Thats a hard habit to break..I did it once I was onto solids after being banded and I paid the price since the bite was way too big and I did not chew it properely. Painful..

Just try your best to follow the post op instructions, to me they are much more important then the pre op...no sneaking bites then, until you are onto solids. You do not want to mess up the healing phase and you want your band to set into place.

hi, jen

hang in there ,for just a couple of more days, and when your band ,you'll feel if you did it for a couple of days, you can do it. think as of now the places you would like to walk to after the band, walking is the best thing, before and after. keeps the mind refresh. and is a beautiful life style change that you made, for your health, and well being, your going to have a lot to look forward to concertate on those things. that will soon be at your reach. best of health. it will make the sacrifice of the food your eatting now taste so much better,

Jen,

I only have to do clear liquids the day before, which is Sunday, the 5th, thank goodness. I really feel for you, cause I'm already dreading liquids for that day. I'm not a cook (at all) and I'm nervous about the postop diet. I hope I'm like a few of the bandlanders who don't have an appetite, though if I am, it'll be the first time I didn't have one. (appetite).

Good luck, I'll be thinking about you, and get that shopping done now!

PS, Leatha any other suggestions for the post op, when you say broth, could you be more specific, I've never done broth in my life, didn't want to admit it to anyone, so no laughing. Do you mean that stuff in a can by Swanson? I thought that was for mashed potatoes.

Yes ma'am. You can also buy that in 1 cup box containers which is helpful for measuring. There are also other broths in condensed powder that you can mix with hot Water. It's actually pretty good when you've had nothing else to eat. The warmth really makes you feel like you're getting something substantial... for awhile.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
