Cottage cheese, yogurt going down too easy?

Recommended Posts

I'm in my second week since surgery and I'm on whole liquids now. I'm following directions and eating a little bite at a time and waiting for any stomach responses but I'm a little concerned that the yogurt and cottage cheese is going down so easily. I get a little tiny " don't put no more in here just yet" signal but after I wait I can finish 3 oz. easy of this stuff. After reading about how so many others have had problems at this stage of getting stuff down or not being able to eat more than 1-2 oz. I'm slightly concerned that it's going down as easily as it is. I'm not complaining at all about being able to get the Protein Shakes, Water and all in like I'm supposed to but I guess from reading so many posts I was expecting this to be a lot more difficult. This surgery does make you a little nuts don't it? Like I wasn't before. Lol.

oh no, don't worry. they're both little more than liquids.

Isn't that odd I had 2 weeks of liquids only. I was not allowed yogurt or cottage cheese until week 4. I find even now 17 weeks post op there are many times I can't even finish 1/2 cup of cottage cheese or a cup of yogurt.

I pre-op but have had my NUT appointment for the post op eating the other day... I'll be on full liquids on day 3 after surgery adding yogurt and such on the 5th day after... I wish someone could explain why there are so so many different approaches to post op nutrition when we all have had the same surgery... There does not seem to be any standardized protocols other than Protein and fluids...Im noticing in post on here some will say their nut said something and others get outraged or assume the poster must have got their direction wrong.. When in reality it just seems each nut gives different advice...ultimate we have to follow the nut working with our surgeon... Like my nut said down the road you if you choose to have bread it must be toasted to avoid it getting stuck, have not seen anything on here about that... I was also told to take B12 once a week forever, don't see anyone mention that... I'm wondering do I have a great nut or not so great, she seemed on her game.

The practice of medicine is not an exact science. I think there is such variation, because out surgeon's come up with guidelines based on a combination of research and experience.

I hope that their primary goal is to keep us healthy and alive and to heal with no complications.

@innersurfergirl.... Agree about the primary goal.... Medicine isn't an exact science, correct... I just see it all we all have healing stomachs so the protocol so such a wide range of advice, some do a 2liquid diet others don't etc...

The problem is there isn't any empirical research out there to show one approach is better than another, no scientific studies. So therefore every doctor has a different set of experiences and knowledge, so they basically give you their educated opinion and each ones education, experiences and opinions are slightly different.

Some things have some research now and some doctors still hang on to their approaches because they have worked well for them in the past so why change?

It's still an emerging field.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
