4yrs out complication needing sleeve to bypass :(

Recommended Posts

so after many appointments testing and 3 doctors I finally found my 4th Doctor that gave me the right answers for over 1 year I've had issues with abdominal pain spasms uncomfortable all the time diarrhea which is probably a separate issue and pain with food especially liquids so these are the findings from a correct and accurate upper gi.

1. Concentric narrowing of the mid body of the stomach presumably secondary to the prior gastric sleeve procedure.

2. Demonstration of a small diverticulum of the gastric fundus.

3. Presence of a mild sliding hiatal hernia.

4. Presence of deep residual penetration without aspiration.

his solution and suggestion is a bypass which should fix my discomfort n pain but probably not the "runs" he said there is no way to redo or fix my sleeve because its to risky and can cause more problems and it was probably done very sloppy

although my stomach functions in time the sleve might become more distorted then it is now

im very hesitant to do bypass it wasn't my choice to begin with i need to do more research on it anyone has info on sleeve to bypass please share

so now my question is what unforseen problems will await me with this bypass 2-3 years down the road ? bypass vets please help

I had severe complications after my sleeve in march 2014. I finally got my surg to refer me to hos partner. I wanted to see someone else but he refused and would only allow me to see his partner.he did one endoscopy and diagnosed me with bile refux. I had every symptom i found online. I was told i needed to have a bypass as well. After. Reading about this procedure I decided I would not have it done.

I decidd to see a GI specialist. She is awesome! She prescribed me Dicyclomine 10 mg capsule . I call that my rescue medicine! LOL i literally can feel like i have a knife in my stomach and cant move. The almost paralyzes me. Within 5 minutes the pain is gone and im back to my happy self again. The GI Spc told me even if I have tbe bypass surg I could still have the same issues. I decided to continue following up with the GI dr vs the baraectrc surg. My surg moved about 3 hours away so it made sense just to stat with the GI dr. No way was I going back to Dr Minkin.

The medicine I take just works on my stomach. You dont feel goofy like you would taking a muscle relaxany.

You might look at the DS. The sleeve is actually the first thing done in A DS operation, so it would be a natural thing to go to next. Do not trust this op to anyone. Join the DS group on fb and you will learn a lot. I would not have a bypass. Regain an issue. There are about 5 trusted veteran approved surgeons that can do this surgery fantastically. I think there are one or 2 in Mexico that are approved. Go join the DS Facebook groups, there are 2.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
