Acid at night

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 2009, lost about 50 lbs and kept if off UNTIL...

Summer 2014 I started having terrible acid relux at night and vomiting several times a week. I lived in denial for quite some time, then finally saw my surgeon in August 2015. He removed all the Fluid (hello, 10 lbs) and did an endoscopy, which determined that the band had slipped. I had the band removed in October 2015, and was revised to gastric bypass on April 18. I have done well with the bypass so far and have zero acid reflux issues.

I chose the bypass because the surgeon recommended it as a revision instead of the sleeve. I listened to him and am so glad I did.

I was terribly despaired while I had the reflux and vomiting. I felt very alone and did not reach out for help for way too long. When my surgeon told me that the band is well-known for these side effects I felt a little better. He doesn't really offer the band anymore in his practice.

Please reach out for help.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really leaning more towards vsg because the thought of malabsorption scares me. What have you noticed is the biggest difference between the band and gastric bypass?

the GB has a similar feeling of restriction as the band, so I like that. The differences are pretty significant. I have had about a four week recovery period, and I don't really have a lot of interest in food. I have had some nausea when I eat certain things. I really wanted a bypass because of the fact that eating sweets really affects some people. I have not tested myself in this area yet, though.

The bottom line for me was that my surgeon strongly recommended the bypass for lap band revisions, and I trust him. He has several years of experience to back up his recommendations.

Wow. Sounds like the story of my life! Banded 3.5 years ago. Lost 60+ lbs. Had the gagging and vomiting in my mouth, coming out my nose issue every night for weeks. The coughing and gagging was constant even with the Prevacid and sleeping upright. I did anything to prevent me from calling for an unfill. Nothing worked and I had to call for the dreaded apt. The dr took out .2cc. I haven't had a problem since. I also have gained 10 lbs back. I am so fearful that I will gain it all back. Started working out with a trainer 2x per week and trying to fit in some cardio in between. My eating hasn't changed that much. Maybe I am fooling myself. I can get more down but certainly can't finish a full meal. Can anyone give me some guidance with this? I've had my Tummy Tuck and other plastic procedures done because I thought I was at my best. Now I see more of me than I would like to. HELP!!!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
