StefanieSparklePants 95 Posted June 1, 2016 At this stage, you want to focus on liquids and Protein. Dehydration was a real problem for me around week 3. Keep sipping. food, for me, was basically kept to Peanut Butter, soft scrambled eggs and refried Beans. I lived on cottage cheese and yogurt forever too. StefanieSparklePants 95 Posted June 1, 2016 Also, changing my relationship with food has helped me not be consumed by thoughts of it. It's easy to think food is running your life early out because it is. The surgery is driving and you're basically in the backseat. At 10 months out, Im pretty much at the maintenance stage where I am super mindful of what I eat. But I dont beat myself up if I go over 100 calories. These days, I get about 800-1000 calories a day. girl4god77 39 Posted June 1, 2016 Under 600 calories? I was never told to stay under that... Is this the norm? Not attacking just curious Yep-our program (through Kaiser) says the first 3 months to stay at 400-600 cals. I'm just over 4 weeks and hitting just about 600 daily (today I was at 645). I'm getting my 60-80g Protein (usually closer to 80) in and I was worried about moving up to this phase (soft food-1/2 c meals) and keeping the cals the same. But I'm actually pretty satisfied now that I'm eating solid foods. I work out or walk 6 days a week (but the gym is very mild workout) and get exhausted & sometimes need an extra Protein snack so I eat it. My friend had surgery a month before me (she's under the same plan) and had her 2nd follow up & they told her she should still be eating 400-600 cals (she moved up to 600-800 at 6 weeks) but she is just sticking to her 600-800. Idk what I will do. I try to stick to the plan as much as possible but I also listen to my body. Some people eat 1,000 cals at this point: I can't even fathom that much right now. But I would like an extra 100. ◡̈ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
girl4god77 39 Posted June 1, 2016 For me to lose weight pre-op and not have to worry about food, my doc put me on 3 Protein shakes a day and a lean Protein dinner. My cal intake is 900-1200 a day. 600 seems extreme, but if that is what they said then you should stick to it. Again, not attacking. Just seems odd, but everyone is different and I would be consumed by what I ate at that level. I think journaling and planning is the best way to go for anything. Good luck. That's pre op. I'm post op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
