tony031469 81 Posted May 26, 2016 I'm 2 months post op and I still can't get to 64oz. I'm lucky if I get to 32oz. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 26, 2016 You really should aim for 64ozs. Always carry fluids with you. Get a Water bottle. They have apps that will remind you to drink. Set small goals for every hour. Sip, sip, sip. Have decaffeinated tea, flavored water, broth, sugar free popsicles, skim milk, almond milk, non caloric drinks, etc. Try different temps to see if easier. You can do it! ????☕ Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App
jess9395 5,449 Posted May 26, 2016 Slowly and constantly. Always have a Water bottle with you. Try adding flavoring (crystal light, NUUN for electrolytes, mio). Try different temperatures (hot herbal tea, room temp, ice). I could only do bottled Water not tap (we have wonderful well water) or even filtered tap, it felt too dense to me in my stomach. See if your doc allows you to count other liquids like Protein shakes and milk. Keep sip sip sipping!
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 26, 2016 Daily?? I am 5 weeks post op. I am no where near drinking 32 oz daily. I just can NOT get it down. Please tell me any suggestions! Thank you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sip, sip, sip. Have something with you at all times and keep sipping. Set short-term goals (ex. Drink 8 oz when you get up in the morning, drink another 8 oz an hour later, etc.). If you have difficulty drinking plain Water, try different temperatures, Water enhancers, Decaf tea, Herb infusions, etc. You need at least 64 oz of Fluid. OKCPirate 5,323 Posted May 26, 2016 Just one sip at a time. I have two 32 oz bottles I keep with me by my desk, they are mysteriously empty by the end of the day.
crazyplantlady 70 Posted May 26, 2016 Once your stomach has healed up some, you can try using a straw. I had the hardest time sipping and I wasn't able to get to 64oz until I started using a straw. Somehow it made it so much easier! Good luck!

Kindle 8,667 Posted May 26, 2016 What everyone else said...never ever ever stop sipping. Try different temperatures, flavors and textures. Make sure you have a drink with you at all times. Wake up.sip. Pee. Sip. Shower. Sip. Brush teeth. Sip. Get dressed. Sip. Drive to work and sip sip sip all the way there. Sip all day at your desk or whatever it is you do at work. Goto lunch. Sip sip sip. Repeat the morning. Drive home and sip sip sip. Then pretty much spend every minute until you go to bed sipping as you do laundry, grocery shop, take the kids wherever, mow the lawn, watch TV. Just always have something to drink within arms reach. Set a timer if you have to. Meet mini goals...8 oz before work. 20 oz before lunch. 20oz after lunch. 4oz on your way home, 16 oz before bedtime. WALA! You've exceeded your Fluid goal. AnaLiza 42 Posted May 26, 2016 Take a sip every 60 seconds set a timer it's very important to get it in, it's not just Water all the fluids you take in count toward your 64oz of liquid intake.. So if you have broth or a shake that's liquid. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Christinamo7 4,042 Posted May 26, 2016 one sip at a time. right after post op I used a 10 ounce glass and counted them off. now I have my two Vitamin Water zeros and a big ole bottle of Water with me when I leave the house for the day and when I get home they better all be gone. water bottle holds 50 ounces. Also play around with temperature. right after surgery I was only happy with room temperature or warmish liquids. nothing too hot or cold. now at 3 months temperature doesn't matter to my stomach.
