DS veterans lend me your history

Hey ridgerunner, you might like this book, written by a woman who had DS. It's not just a weight loss book, she's a "real" writer too, so she writes a LOT about the psychological changes too....pretty fascinating. I'm listening to it as an audiobook, but here's a link up the book:https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1580054463/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1465437773&sr=8-1π=SY200_QL40&keywords=stranger+here

it's one of the few books where the person had a DS.

To echo @discodawg I don't have any issues either. Not even with Constipation. I can eat carbs and not have any issues. I do limit my carbs however just to avoid any excessive weight gain. I will say if I eat something really really greasy/fatty, the bathroom isn't too kind the following morning . However, I may eat like that 2x a year!!

What I'm learning is it can be managed for some with diet monitoring. Your body will tell you what's good and what's not. I'm 6 years out and enjoying life. Hell some days I don't even realize I have surgery. :D

My friend's Mother In Law told her that the reason she is fat is because she holds in her farts! So fart yourself skinny my friends! [emoji12][emoji12]

Thank you for your help bariatricbutterfly!

Nice to meet another DSer!! They are so few and far between. Your experience is super helpful to me. As it turned out I have to wait until August or September before I can have my surgery so I have ample time to weigh pros and cons of both Sleeve and DS.

Thank you shortycool,

Gratifying to know that a question asked so long ago could help someone later.

By the way, I ended up getting the sadi-s ds and am two weeks postop. Still early yet but so far very happy with my decision.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
