OMG, How Crazy Am I????

Recommended Posts

I hate it when people ask me how much more I want to lose. I look at the numbers and say 15 or so. I look at my body and say 100 or so. I don't like people referring to me as skinny because I am not.

I'm starting to get embarrassed at how much I've lost. People ask me and when I tell them I know they are thinking, "WOW! She was *that* fat??" When I lost 30-40 I was proud of what I had done. Now it's just getting embarrassing.

I can't win. ;)

I agree you tell someone how much you've lost and hear "You didn't look that big" Yeah thanks for that.....blah....

OMG it is so funny you two are discussing this right now. (Two of my fave ladies, BTW)

Last night at work a lady says, "Wow, you're melting! How much have you lost?" I told her almost 70 lbs (no one knows about the OR). She asked how much more did I want to lose and I said about 130 more if I can. She said, "Wow, that's a lot of weight, I wouldn't have guessed you carried that much around."

Next time you see her outside of work and in street clothes mention that you didn't realize her scrubs made her look so thin.

I guess if you're nuts, you're in good company.

I keep my fattest picture on record posted on my fridge and damn if I don't look in the mirror everyday and not see much of a difference. The Cunning Plan sounds very appealing to me. I'm down to 160 but haven't updated my ticker.

I know I look thinner to people and believe I graciously accept thier compliments. Inside, however, I think, "They're just trying to be nice. Now if I can get down to a size 8 or 10, THAT'S thin."

Then I'll lay in bed and realize the remote is uncomfortable on my hip because it's right against my hip bone. Or I take a bath and can't get comfortable because my spine and coccyx are right against the hard tub surface. I don't have enough fat padding to protect my bones!

Yet, standing or dressed, it seems all I can focus on is my hips. Or the little pad of fat above my belly button.

People say 'skinny' and all I can give them is 'thinner, but not nearly thin enough.' And somehow I'm blaming myself for not following all the rules and losing more weight.

Paging Dr. Freud!

Oh my goodness, YES YES YES! I relate to everything and especially that fat thing sticking out of my stomach above my belly button. How gross is that? As soon as that is gone is when plastic surgery is coming.

Sitting on wooden benches hurts my butt.

People comment on my weight loss and I know they are just trying to be nice, they don't really mean it.

Mirrors are evil.

Yes, I relate to everything.

*delurking*

that is exactly why the only person i now tell how much i've lost is my DH (and you guys of course!)..

yup, i have a total of 222.5 pounds to lose. that is a lot more than some (most??) people weigh... yup, i know i'm fat ... i was "huge" but i'm getting smaller. (my DH called me 'thin' a few days ago...)

you ladies inspire the hell out of me and i cant wait to join you when i am closer to goal (94.8 lbs to go)...

OK here goes... I'm going to post my pics for you guys. Anyone who is willing or able could you show them to a couple of your non-banded friends (Maybe a good looking guy:eyebrows:) and see what they think. Do they think I look "fat", "normal" dare I suggest "thin".

OMG :omg: I can't believe I just uploaded the swimsuit shot!:opps2:

:help:How do you remove a picture from a previous post!

All I can see in that pic is my large arms and my stomach hanging down by my side. Thankfully my legs are hidden by the towel!

Here's crazy... Part of me still can't get enough of showing people my before shots while my "current" shots still embarrass me. (I'm not willing yet to call them "afters") It's like I think if they see my before shots maybe they will be more forgiving with how I look now. So on that vein here are my before's...

But for the sake of non-partiality whoever is going to be kind enough to show my current photos to their friends for their opinions, don't show them these as well.

You look beautiful and so happy! You should be really proud of yourself and try not to be so self critical. This is a huge accomplishment. Try to soak it all in as you keep working on getting to your personal goal. You've done a fantastic job.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
