vivascal or other vitamins for hair growth?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm 3.5 months post op, and am now experiencing the dreaded telogen effluvium, AKA when a large amount of your hair falls out and makes you sad.

It's not even been a month since my hair has started falling out, but I can see a major difference in how visible my scalp is and as far as I can tell by perusing these forums, the web, and talking to my doctor/nurse practitioner, it's going to continue at this rate for a couple months more... at which I imagine I will be near bald.

So I thought I would take control and start taking some Vitamins to kickstart the regrowth of my hair so at least my scalp won't be super visible and I can regain the thickness of my hair a little sooner

I take all me recommended vitamins, and 5000 mcg Biotin (I tried 10000 but I was breaking out really badly).

I've read that vivascal is good for growing your hair, and rogaine for women.

I'm worried about using rogaine because I read that when you stop taking it your hair will fall out again.

Has anyone had any experience with vivascal or any other type of Vitamin to speed up hair regrowth and saw favorable results?

Thanks!

Best I have found.

These are good for people with ethnic hair.

You can stop it from falling out, but you can make it grow back almost as fast as it is coming back. Just max your Protein out, take all your Vitamins, drink lots of Water, and treat your hair gently. Rogaine won't help with this.

Right, I have no illusions that I can keep my hair from falling out, I just want to get growth to happen as much as possible.

What else have you tried?

It says if you stop using the serum, the new hair growth will fall out

Is this true in the case of Hair loss due to surgery rather than aging?

Thanks for the link!

I stopped using it and the new hair hasn't fallen out and it is still growing.

I only stopped using it because I ran out and haven't reordered, but it did make my hair thicken up very fast, in like 3 weeks.

Oh nice! I think biologically it makes sense it wouldn't make the hair fall out after discontinued use.

Thank you so much for your help!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
