Carafate ,Protonix ,Reglan (help!)

Sometimes they will prescribe some meds for "in case". Reglan is for nausea (not acid). Carafate will line your stomach and prevent ulcers and protonix is a PPI (for GERD). You may or may not need them. Your pain med will be prescribed before discharge (probably dependent on what you are tolerating). Not everyone receives blood thinners. That will be determined in the hospital as well.
Thanks for your feedback I did read the descriptions and I know what all three are for.. but when so many people are unable to even tolerate small amount of liquid in the beginning how hard is it going to be in to take these pills 2 of them or 4 times a day

Ask your surgeon.
I did it was a "we will see and make adjustments if needed" type response. what I am really asking is for those who did have issues drinking shortly after , how hard was it to get down meds?
They will not presribe narcotics until your very last discharge day... too much of a liability the prescribing M.D.

One week before surgery I was prescribed carafate, pain medicatiion and an anti-nausea med (not reglan, can't recall what it was). Bufflehead is correct, you may not even need to take the reglan, I did not need to take my anti nausea med. My surgeon puts all of his patients on carafate for one month only. Also, I never had any problem taking any of my medications and I have some horse pills!
Thank you

I did carafate for a couple of days post surgery because it helped with this fluttering feeling I would get in my chest which was apparently some sort of acid reflux that caused nausea
Protonix (or another PPI) and Reglan are commonly prescribed after vsg. I know a lot of people are also prescribed carafate. These are usually temporary prescriptions, not for the rest of your life.
I was prescribed a PPI and Reglan, but only had to take the Reglan if I was feeling nauseated, which I was not. So that one I never took. I had no problem taking my PPI or any other small pills. It really isn't a huge deal. My pain meds were liquid -- liquid lortab. That one was the hardest to take just because it tastes so awful! But overall I had no real issues with taking any meds post-op.
