Surgery is supposed to be TOMORROW. I've been living on Protein Shakes, broth, s-f Jello, and air for 2 weeks. I've lost 35 pounds since January. I'm ready to be sleeved!! :D On Monday, I started coming down with a cold. I have almost no voice today, tight barking cough, and the NP from anesthesia says no way will the do surgery tomorrow. This is SO disappointing. I get it, I am sick and honestly don't want to have surgery when I'm sick like this, but still. They want me to wait a month before rescheduling, but that would mean I'd have to cancel my 4th of July plans, lose the airfare, miss the family reunion, etc. I could do it right after 4th of July, but I am not sure that I can stick to liquids only while surrounded by family, endless BBQ, clambakes, beer/wine, etc. I am SO stressed about all this right now!! I think I'll probably reschedule for mid-July and do the liquid diet after coming home from the family reunion over 4th of July... but I'm just so disappointed. I was SO ready. :(

coming down with a cold. - anesthesia- no surgery- SO disappointing.

@@leebick

what a bummer!!

kind of like being all dressed up, nowhere to go!!

glad you realize surgery needs to come to a halt for now

(you are definitely a smart cookie!!)

rescheduling surgery for end of July sounds good

you won't have to "suffer" watching others eat , or cancel airline tickets

BUT - you must realize that PO (for the rest of your life) you will be around other yummies

and you MUST deal with it (i'm sure you know this)

have fun at your reunion!!! don't overeat

if you do gain weight, all the more you have to lose!!

final last "wise words"??? from proudgrammy

take your medicine

get a warm blanket and pillow

lay down/rest/sleep on the couch

plenty of fluids

hot Soup

sweet dreams

feel better

kathy

That sucks but I always like to think there's a reason behind these types of things happening. I would highly recommend that you take Airborne and Vitamin C. If you are flying before your surgery - you want to build up your immune system so you don't get sick again on a germ filled airplane.

That is frustrating , I know it seems like every since I got my surgery date I am walking on egg shells trying to make sure don't do or contract anything that will push me back. But you know murphy's law, so far I've been burned on my chest and face (small area) by hot grease, been bitten my a spider , and got a strange rash.....and still have to make it to June 1st in one piece. Does anyone have a bubble?

I am rescheduled for July 18. I could have had an earlier date, but my daughter is having her wisdom teeth out the next day and my husband wasn't sure if he could be in 2 places at once, much less worrying about her and me simultaneously! It also would have compromised being able to go to the family reunion over 4th of July. There has been a ton of serious illness in my husband's family this year and it's important to him that we all go and touch base, visit together, mourn those we lost, etc. I realized that, while it's frustrating to wait, waiting will also give me the best chance of being successful when this finally happens. I will start full liquids on July 4th, which is the day before we come home from the reunion but will be OK. It's Independence Day- kind of fitting, in a way, that I start liquids then... the start of my independence from a life of unhealthy eating habits!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
