My Doctor has told me to eat more cheese. I am still on the puree stage. What type of cheese were you able to eat at this stage? Thanks.

Thank you :) I'm not a huge fan of cheese. I have no idea why he is pushing it. Thanks for your help.

I love cheese. cheese is my go to snack all the time. Protein, rich flavor, high fat, low carbs...it's the perfect food. An ounce or two goes a long way and will keep me satisfied for hours.

At this stage, you can really eat any cheese at room temp. My doctor didn't want me to eat string cheese until 6 months post op because she wasn't a fan of the stringy texture, but she did say that was just her personal feeling. Nothing real scientific about it, but I also have a slight stricture so that added to her concern.

Go to the cheese counter at Wegmans, Whole Foods or any other nicer market and tell them you are not a fan of cheese, but your doctor wants you to eat more. They can guide you to something delicious and will let you sample as many as you'd like for free.

What kinds of cheese flavors do you like? There are enough cheese lovers here that I'm sure we can give you a little guidance. :D

When I was on the puree stage I didn't have any solid cheese, only cottage cheese.

After progressing to regular foods though, I am a fan of Sargento's low fat Colby/Monterey Jack cheese sticks. They are made with 2% milk and have I think 60 calories, about the same as string cheese, with much better flavor. This is my ready snack for mid-afternoons, perhaps with a Protein shake or a small handful of almonds.

At your stage, I ate the Laughing Cow soft cheese. They come in several flavors and are a small triangle of a serving.

Those are my favorites too. There is just enough to keep me full for hours.

Low fat cottage cheese and low fat ricotta cheese. They told me about ricotta bake or noodless lasagna. Ricotta cheese with some Pasta. :)

Yes to the Ricotta bake! I love it! I used the recipe from eggface and split it into a bunch of small portions. It's been one of my favorites since surgery 4 weeks ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
