stall accompanied by constipation, is this normal?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm gonna go ahead and start out by saying yes I know stalls happen and yes I should embrace it and be patient and stick with my program etc etc etc

I'm not here to complain about it, I'm here to ask if this is normal.

I am 3.5 months post-op, and have been in a stall for the last couple of weeks or so. The scale has literally not moved one bit.

The last few days I have had some Constipation as well, even though I have been getting all my Protein in, as well as my Water.< /p>

Before this I was pretty regular. I would be able to poop every morning, whether or not it was a satisfactory poop is a different story :P

I can't help but wonder if the random constipation is related to the stall, and if anyone else experienced this as well?

Oddly enough, I did not really experience much of a 3 week stall... so I guess this is my turn!

Constipation is normal. I had to take laxatives for a couple of months before my body got back to normal. If you are like me then I suggest you take the as well. At first I waited until I naturally went but it was extremely painful and felt like my whole digestive tract was cramping up. I was on the pot doing business and vomiting at the same time. So you might try the laxatives to avoid the pain.

What kind of laxative would you recommend? I am having surgery in 2 days and I definitely DON"T want to have to deliver the "butt baby" so many have talked about. I can't imagine I could use psyllium post-surgery (because it swells) but I'm not sure what else to consider. Also… how soon after surgery can one start using a laxative. I know my surgeon will tell me, but it's always nice to hear others' experiences/recommendations.

Miralax. It may not be the fastest but it gets the job done gently and it's easy to dissolve and drink in any Fluid. :) Constipation is *because* our diets are mainly Protein with little of the stuff (ruffage, fiber) that gets things moving. It's also a good idea to up the fluids as much as possible. Dehydration makes it even worse.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
