lb330 1 Posted May 24, 2016 Just started puréed foods this morning and made one scrambled egg- I'm eating slowly and have had like 4 bites.. I'm nervous to finish because I don't want to be sick but can't tell if I'm stopping before I'm even full just out of nervousness. How will I know when to stop? Should I be able to eat a whole egg at this point or is this normal? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
gerbrared 7 Posted May 24, 2016 I'm the same, so scared to eat too much, did you puree your egg or just mash it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 24, 2016 How many ounces of food does your plan suggest? I think I was told 2ozs. You should measure everything - once you start to feel full it's usually too late.
jane13 2,256 Posted May 24, 2016 @@lb330 - Measuring it out and setting your fork down while you are chewing is a good idea. That is so you don't inadvertently eat another bite and you stomach will have time to signal your brain that you are full. How many days post are you? I had a soft scrambled egg for my first 'meal' and it was divine!
Elle09 157 Posted May 24, 2016 My NUT recommended using the little 2 ounce condiment cups that you can get from a Walmart or the grocery stores to measure my food and what I can fit in it I can eat. It has been a good tool for me in this stage. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

gerbrared 7 Posted May 24, 2016 2 ounce of any food? For Breakfast lunch and dinner? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Elle09 157 Posted May 24, 2016 Yes. I have an extensive list of food that I was given and in my nutrition classes received more ideas, and I got sample menus. I appreciated my nutritional classes and felt prepared going into this stage. Sample of things I eat egg salad my favorite for Breakfast. I just feel the little cup up and eat my meal. lunch tuna salad, or turkey chili. For dinner I have had refried Beans with low fat sour cream. Sunday night I roasted fresh beets and puréed them and had baked tilapia which I grinded into very small pieces and filled my little cup up; decent dinner with my Protein and vegetables. The fam got regular portions. I am learning to be creative yet keep it simple. My egg salad I just make a small portion for me to eat off for 2-3 days and I can prepackage my cups. Turcoise 18 Posted May 31, 2016 I can't eat a whole egg yet I usually have about 2 bites left when I try... this is the nice part about having dogs, they are happy to eat the excess.
Elle09 157 Posted May 31, 2016 @@gerbrared i use four boiled eggs, Hellmann's light Mayonnaise, about half teaspoon of Dijon mustard, sea salt and pepper. Once you boil the eggs I just use a fork to mash the eggs up but I leave a bit of texture because once the mayo and dijon mustard is added it should be creamy so that it is easy to digest. Then I use the 2 oz condiment cup to eat out of. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Freckles70 25 Posted June 1, 2016 I make my egg salad like Elle above but also add a splash of vinegar and a dash of paprika to make a "deviled" egg salad.
