Feeling bad...no progress

Recommended Posts

Hi all

It's been a while but I feel so guilty and horrible about not using my tool early on to its full potential. I lost my way sometime around the holidays (surgery July 2015) and now feel like I lost the opportunity to really lose the weight.

I've lost 50lbs since July and feel like it's not enough. My HW 291, SW 273, CW 224. I clearly have not made my goal and am having a hard time to refocus.

What has worked for you all?

Thanks for any support and encouraging words you can offer.

It is never too late. You still have your sleeve.

Why not make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your goals?

A good therapist may also be able to help you get back on track.

In the meantime, go back to basics.

Follow your program.

Track your food.

Get at least 64 oz Fluid every day.

Meet your Protein target every day. What is your Protein target?

Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise.

And, Embrace the Stall

Well, no sense in any of us beating you up about it...you are doing that enough yourself. Chin up....

Best place to start is at the beginning again...that is exactly what I do when i have a bad day or days. My mental mantra: "Go back to the basics. Eat your Protein and get in your Water. Stop eating the crap Get moving."

Do you have a NUT you can talk to in order to help get you back on track? You can do this...don't give up on yourself!

Don't beat yourself up! we all say that ! but its easier said than done when its you having the issue, trust me I'm the best cheerleader but when it comes to my plateau i am clueless!

i am constantly trying new things to get past this stall, but i have to def get out of my own mind.

Don;t give up and just keep trying new things. if you need someone to chat with please PM me, i don't know if i give good advice but I am a darn good listener :)

and who knows maybe we can get through our stalls together~

:D :P

You really can continue to lose weight.

However, the important thing is that you recommit and take action NOW.

Since you've posted here, it seems like this is a turning point for you.

But nothing will change if YOU don't change your behaviors -- eating, drinking, moving, and other tools (you know what they are).

Recommit. Change. Win!

sometimes we just have to reset our brains and remember we are this strong!

You haven't missed your opportunity. You still have your sleeve inside you. It is ready to do its part if you put in the work to wield it as the tool it's intended to be. Go back to basics. Put Protein first. Make sure you are getting 80-100 grams a day. Make sure you are drinking 64 oz. of Water per day minimum. Don't eat slider foods. Don't graze. Don't eat and drink at the same time. And try to get more active.

I know exactly how you feel...I am facing the same challenge. Had surgery 7/2012, did great...but, as of today have regained 20 pounds . I just joined this site to find the support and motivation. I am 62 yrs old.

Thank you everyone! I needed this. I have been off track and just needed to go back to basics. I will consider getting therapy too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
