I tried it about 7 weeks out. It was too much for me at that time. I haven't tried it again yet.

About my 4th week or so. I started making my own homemade chili. It definitely helped in my weigh loss. My HW 340 SW 320 CW 195 GW 185. I was sleeved 5/29/15. Those last 10 pounds are hard since I'm weightlifting and building muscle.

I will never understand the obsession with Wendy's Chili from WLS patients.

Between my job and work, sometimes fast food was just the easy, convenient thing for me to do, so I've had Wendy's chili on occasion starting at about 6 weeks out. I could never finish more than 1/3 of a cup, but it was a nice change of pace from drinking my Protein. I still have chili every once and a while, it's a go-to especially when I'm out at a restaurant or want to blend in without wearing a giant "I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS" blinking neon sign.

I used to eat more of the Wendy's chili, as a large serving would last 3 meals! Now I just make a pot of chili on Sunday and freeze it into small containers. Voila! dinner plus lunches for a week, plus I know exactly what's in it! I still eat the chili when out because there's no way I could eat a burger or fries without feeling sick for 2+ hours.

Homemade Chili is definitely a way to go since you can add all types of Proteins for our recovery. It did wonders for me since I was down 120 lbs in 6 months.

Huh... I was cleared for it earlier than most I guess. I could have it at 2-3 weeks can't remember which. And it was a staple for me for quite a while. Course I could maybe ear 1/3 of a small (no cheese no onions). Now I can do about half a small and occasionally add the cheese and onions. I am 2.5 years out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
