Hi! I am 2 weeks out and today I began my puree diet. After having a few baby spoons of mashed avocado I got the foamies and slimies and vomited multiple times. This also happened to me last week with some egg drop Soup though I was only having the broth.

I had the lapband for 4ish years and foamed/slimed/vomited on a regular basis to a point where I had the band undone. Now I am petrified I have done this irreversible surgery and am doomed to eat slider foods for the rest of my life and remain fat bc the alternative is vomiting day in and day out.

Sorry for all of this negativity but I am so scared that I have made a huge mistake and well, too late now so how am I going to minimize foamies/slimies/vomiting?

Thanks all. Appreciate any insight u can give.

I have only had a couple things that have made me sick. Luckily nothing that has made me vomit. I've learned through my pre op classes that our body has changed so much that things we used to be able to eat we can not tolerate after surgery. We were told that if you have an adverse reaction to a food to wait a month or two and retry it. Some foods you may never to be able to eat again. It's a challenge at times to find foods that works. I'm still looking for that one thing that satisfies me taste wise and is not just nutritious.

The slimes eventually go away. With me, I first got them every time I ate. Then it was only when I ate too much. Now slightly over one year after surgery I only get them once in a blue moon.

If you are concerned, do what I did and carry a disposable cup with you in your car and around with you so you can spit in it and then throw it away.

I couldn't eat egg (scrambled) for over 5 months. Just could not eat it in any quantity without throwing up. Took me until about 8 months out before I could eat them and now no problems.

It is just your sleeve saying it's too soon for that particular food or possibly you ate too fast. Skip it and come back to it in a month if slowing down and eating really small portions produced the same reaction.

As long as you are eating slowly and watch the portion sizing, you'll be fine in another month or two and likely won't experience that stuff again (unless you push your sleeve too far and overeat/eat something super high sugar/fat - that can cause issues even 6-8 months out sometimes).

It does get better... MUCH better. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
