UsernameTaken 283 Posted May 23, 2016 I have had pain after I drink (liquid diet, 10th day post op) finally spoke with my dr, we determined that apparently I swallow air when I drink which creates air bubble inside and hurts... Apparently I don't know how to drink???? I have been really paying attention to it, and even before talking to my dr was doing very small sips... I tried different bottles, different cups, spoons et. I feel like I am not able to meet my Water goal because of this and getting nervous I will get dehydrated. Have you guys experienced this? Does it go away? I know we are not supposed to use straws but I am tempted to try and see if it will help me get water in since I already get air inside... Ugh...
James Marusek 5,244 Posted May 23, 2016 Right after surgery your body is in a major heal mode and many individuals find it difficult to get the required fluids and Protein in. It does get better with time. Keep trying and eventually you volume will increase.

Learningtolive 109 Posted May 24, 2016 Agreed with James. The pain sensation does go away. Heck, I'm almost 4 months post-op and still occasionally have that pain, so I sip slowly during those moments and get it going with liquids as much as I can. Try different liquids, and temperatures may help as well.
