Surgery is TOMORROW! Doesn't seem real.

After such a long process and jumping through all the hoops you have to jump through for WLS, I am finally here. I am freaking out, but am so excited.

I am 21 years old and have been struggling with my weight since I can remember. I am engaged and we have a wonderful 3 year old boy. I am tired of being this way and want my son to see me grow up healthy and happy.

Wish me luck :) I am so ready for this journey to a better life for my family and I.

Best of luck to you. If you go in with the thought of "I'm going to do great", then you will. Just remember that this is a surgery and you are going to feel 'off' for a while. All I can tell you is to do what your Dr. says. If he/she says no lifting for X weeks, don't do it. I know you are going to miss holding your 3 year old, but he will be happy enough just sitting on your lap.

You are doing something wonderful for yourself. I know what has to happen before surgery is even an option so I can honestly say that I'm proud of each and every one of us making the decision to take back our lives.

Good luck tomorrow. :D

Good luck! It's was a hard decision for me to make, but I'm so glad I did. I'm just over a month out and each day gets better.

Good luck! You say you're freaking out a bit -- so did I and I expect just about everyone else in the last day or two before surgery. Just stay the path and you'll do great.

I'm 3.5 weeks out and amazed at how great I feel. Haven't regretted it for a minute. I was sore for the first few days but off all pain meds in about 3 days and feeling surprisingly good by the end of the week.

You're awesome and you've made a great decision. Best wishes to you.

Congratulations!!!

I am so happy for you in making this decision. It's not an easy one, or an easy road after, but you have your whole life ahead of you and this surgery will allow you to truly live it.

Good luck and please let us know how it went!!!

I hope everything worked out for you. I had my surgery done on Monday and am hopefully going to be discharged from the hospital within a few hours. Since yesterday I have been off of pains meds and to be honest the pain really is manageable. I wish you nothing but success!

My surgery went fine. I think it took about 30 minutes. I woke up in recovery wondering if they had started yet...I was that pain free. I was up and walking pretty quickly after getting back to my room. I had read about the gas pains so I was prepared for the worse but it hasn't been that bad. Today is day 2 so they brought me Gatorade and Water to sip on. I'm taking very small sips because I don't want to push my luck....so far no nausea or anything. So far no regrets and enjoying walking the halls with the other women who were sleeved here.

@@azsoul - you are going to get home, hop on the scale and go "WTF" I have not been eating, but I gained wieght. It's all the IV fluids. Pick up a bag, now imagine 8 of them in you. And because of surgery, your body doesn't want much to get out in case it needs it. HOWEVER, in a couple of weeks when you start pooping and peeing again, you will wake up with glee, and then there will be a stall. It's normal. Just follow the rules, all will be fricken GREAT. Just saying.

@@charley27 it went fantastic. I was in so much pain when I was in recovery but once I was drinking, walking around and stuff I felt much better. I'm 2 days post op and am feeling really well. I haven't had any cravings or anything, however I am still on pain meds because I'm still pretty sore. I'm super happy with my decision though and would do it all over again if I had to choose ☺️

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
