Try almond milk with your Protein powder. That's what I used when I was drinking them and it tasted better than milk.

My program recommends no fruit or vegetables until week 8. They want us to start out by focusing on Protein and they are right, IMHO. It didn't have anything with getting fat from fruit the way they explained it to us. There is no way I would be getting all my Protein in right now if I was trying to eat fruits or vegetables on top of it and protein is extremely important as your body is learning a new way to get energy. Last thing I want to do is lose muscle instead of fat because I'm not getting enough protein. But goes to show how different programs are.

Throwing out another Protein shake idea -- I love GNC's Lean shake 25 -- with 25 grams of Protein and 170 calories. And it's lactose-free.

If you get a GNC membership, you can get a discounted price on multiple cases of the shakes so they're less than $2 apiece.

I love the Swiss chocolate flavored ones. Mmm - mmm!

And yeah, fruit isn't what makes kids fat.

(Apparently, a lotta docs get out of medical school without passing "Nutrition 101." Sheez.)

children are NOT fat from eating fruit.

they are fat from eating too much sugar and processed foods. but not from eating real food.

This!

And because high fructose corn Syrup is in EVERYTHING. Including children's Tylenol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
