How much wardrobe to get in a size

Recommended Posts

So it's official nothing fits anymore. Great problem. I am going to do some shopping tomorrow after gym. My question is what is a reasonable amount of clothes to get? Obviously I need to not look like I only own one pair of pants and shirt and I have no idea how long I will stay this size. But I also don't want to spend several hundred dollars for clothes what will likely be too big by the end of the summer. I was thinking like one pair of jeans, two capris, two workout capris. A couple tank tops, bras, sports bras and maybe 10 shirts. I won't get them all tomorrow I am sure but does that seem like too much or too little.

I have been searching used clothing places around me. They don't seem to have much in 18/20. Tons in 12's and under though.

@@csawesome - Hey Checkout Poshmark.com. There are a lot of 18/20's on there. It is used clothes and I have had a great experience. I was able to buy some, sell some and even resell the ones I bought that no longer fit! You can search by brand if you know which brands you like (i.e. Lane Bryant, Avenue, Torrid, etc.) and size.

Otherwise, I would say your wardrobe sounds about right. I went through pants faster than anything.

also shop places like TJ Maxx clearance, Marshalls. I find loads of things on sale for 10$ or less. I've just bought two pair of pants for at home, and shopping for work pants but haven't found anything. I found one pair in the next size down, so I snatched them up, because sooner or later they'll fit. probably before I get around to hemming them! if I find something I like on sale good, I buy the next size down too. I wear a uniform shirt at work, so it's just going to have to be too big until we order more in July, or else if I find a new job.

I've supplemented stuff I haven't been able to wear in a couple years with consignment finds, and I bought two pair of jeans and black pants for work in January in two consecutively smaller sizes. They were a steal on Nordstrom Rack online. Fortunately, I guessed right on the sizes!

I have a lot of scarves and other accessories, so I keep pants/tops to a minimum.

Maxie dresses are great. They work for the long gest time. Just add a belt or sweater when it gets too big, that will buy you an extra month or two. But for sure Ross, Burlington etc are also good for some quick picks. I agree if you find something you love and can get it in the next size down too, do it. I am going to do that to avoid some of the inevitable questions at work. I don't really want to be the topic of discussion daily or feel obligated to explain myself to everyone who says ..wow, what are you doing to lose weight. Is that wrong?

I buy stuff on the snug side so I can wear them a bit tight, just right, then loose. You can get more mileage that way. ☺ Also I've been able to get more life out of items that are not supposed to go in the dryer, by putting them in the dryer. Some things shrink up really well!

I think how much to buy really varies by life and lifestyle. Someone who works from home and has minimal social life can get away with less than someone who works out of the home and has lots of social activity. Buy a little at a time, and aim for mix and match so you can get multiple outfits just by combining a few things several different ways.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
