claramae 0 Posted August 14, 2007 I am beginning to think this liquid diet is just a way to punish me for becoming "fat". God, I am sick at my stomach; I have a headache; I am crabby. My poor husband. And this is only day 2. How can a person survive on liquids for 2 weeks. I know that there are plenty of people that have gone through this before me and they have survived. I am pretty miserable and unhappy now. I must keep pushing forward.:faint: Today I have had 2 cups of coffee, a Protein Shake, a sugar free pudding and just had some Tomato Soup. I love Tomato Soup, thank goodness, but I am sure I will become sick of it. Oh, well, thanks for letting me vent. I will make it with the help from above and my husband and friends.:help:
DonHoll1 0 Posted August 14, 2007 It does get better . Perhaps you should add some broth and sugar free pop sics. I am 19 days from surgery and have lost 17 pounds so far. I have not had to much of a problem with hunger. Best of luck. Donna
lisah25 3 Posted August 14, 2007 Oh, well, thanks for letting me vent. I will make it with the help from above and my husband and friends.:help: Yeah, you will make it. It sucks, but you'll get through and it will be worth it. Vent here all you want, that's what we're for. It helped me to picture my liver getting smaller and happier(hey, it was my visual!) and ready for surgery day, so it could just dance out of the way of the surgeon. Ok, it didn't make it easy, but it really did help.:heh:
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted August 15, 2007 Just keep stopping and thinking, how much do you want to be thin and healthy? Bad enough to get through a verrrrry short time in your life of liquids? :girl_hug: It will be over with soon.
claramae 0 Posted August 15, 2007 That is exactly what I was thinking, after I vented, that 2 weeks is a very short span of my life. It is for a good cause. I really wish I could just sleep for 2 weeks!!!!
chazn 0 Posted August 15, 2007 I was on liquid diet for 4 weeks. Was not really bad after day 2. 6 Protein Shakes a day. About every 3 hrs. Had band done today, MD said liver look great. Because he said if liver size not done would close me up without doing surg. Lost 43 Pounds during that time. The way I looked at it it was free wt loss, will not come back on. And it was only 4 weeks out of my life. Good luck. Hell did not even eat all my shakes at the end. Not hungry. lol

lawanda jessica 0 Posted August 15, 2007 I'm doing a ten day diet. I guess every surgeon is different but I'm not on full liquids. I have one Protein Shake for Breakfast and cofee with equal and skim milk. I have another shake three hours later. I can eat a weight watchers or any kind of diet meal with broth and veggies. A sugar free pudding or popscicle. For dinner another weight watchers or smart start meal. Before bed a Protein shake. Sixty four ounces of wate. Crystal light as much as I want. I did cheat a bit with a white castle hambuger. Man I was so hungry! This is rough but we have to make it through. Maybe we should visulaize ourselves at goal doing something weve always wanted to do. We can do this girl!
TrimKim 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Don't worry, the first few days maybe even a week is really hard. But you will start to feel better, I promise. And it will start to feel more natural, your body will begin to know what to expect and every little meal will be a celebration. Not to mention the scale will reward you every morning. Consider yourself lucky, my Dr. requires 4-6 weeks of liquid pre-op diet.
lawanda jessica 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Thanks trimkim. Ya know I was just starting to feel lowsy. I have a co-worker/friend who had the band 3yrs ago and she is down 60 pounds and eats completely wrong/doesn't excercise! At lunch today I had what they required me to have. She goes "should you be eating vegetables out of a can with broth? " She said the sodium in it is bad and if I had not had that I would have lost more than a half a pound since starting yesterday. WTF? I said yes it's on my list of what to eat for lunch along with a weight watchers 300 calorie meal. She argued me down and I even offered to show her the paper. It pissed me off so bad I waited another hour to eat because I didn't want to be bothered with the bs. I have been replacing my breakfast with whey Protein and skim milk also. I have a snack like sugar free pudding or sugar free popcicles in between breakfast shake and lunch. Than my mother calls me on my cell asking me am I at lunch? I said yes. She goes what are you eating a cheeseburger? WTF is wrong with people!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I wish I had kept the surgery to myself! How can people be supportive one day and a BITCH the next. She knows how hard this is but all of a sudden she's an expert! I;m going to workout today. I need to relieve some stress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
claramae 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Lawanda--Bless your heart for going through all that BS. I am lucky to be retired, so I can avoid that part. I would be mad at my co-worker and also my mom for their insensitive remarks. Just remember, you will be able to prance around in a size 7 one day and your co-worker will still be struggling. Like the song from Toby Keith "How do you like me now". That will be our new theme song. Hang in there.
claramae 0 Posted August 15, 2007 TrimKim, thanks for the encouragement. Today is not as bad as yesterday. I went to my Lap Band place for a nurtitional meeting. While there, I saw the horrible scales. I got on and behold I have lost 5.2 lbs this week!!! I think I can see a small light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for your words of encouragement. Darragha 0 Posted August 15, 2007 It does suck. It really does. But shrinking my liver is what it's about right now. Little liver little liver little liver. We'll both make it. Darr

Darr Another point here is that every single pound you lose before surgery only makes it easier on your surgeon. Ten pounds makes a big difference as well. If it is easier on your surgeon it is easier and safer for you.
