Cake after being sleeved

Recommended Posts

I had 2 teaspoons of cake today and feel so guilty. I noticed after the second spoon it was just too sweet for me. I felt like if i had anymore it would come right up. I dont want to fall back into bad habits. I really need to stay clear of these foods. I am 3 months out and I am starting to crave sugar from time to time. Any suggestions?

About 2-3 months after surgery I took my finger and made 2 swipes of icing off of a piece of cake. Five minutes later I threw up. lol

Today, I can eat a small piece of cake. However, I only do so on special occasions, such as birthdays, and with ice cream of course! Otherwise, no sweets for me.

FYI: Those mini cupcakes you can buy at stores are perfect size for us sleevers.

Some people can do sweets in moderation....luckily I am one of them. I can have just a couple bites and move on. But some people can't. if you are a sugarholic the only way to not crave sugar is to not ever eat it. And, BTW, your brain reacts the same to artificial sweeteners as it does to real sugar (i.e. You still crave sugar) so I'd stay away from those, too, until you can figure out to control your cravings.

I think we all need to learn moderation! 2 teaspoons is a good way to end cravings! As long as it's a sometimes thing! Don't sweat it! I think we all need to realize there will be slips but that we can keep on going! Not like before where I'd give up once I cheated one time!

@@lweaver1 I have to strongly disagree. For some of us -- not all, but some -- insisting on learning moderation with sweets is like telling an alcoholic they have to learn how to drink in moderation and that having one drink now and then is a good way to end cravings for liquor. Not everyone can "do" moderation. I know I can't, I learned it the hard way. I don't know whether the OP will be a moderator or an abstainer by nature, but that's something they need to figure out for themself. They say "I really need to stay clear of these foods" -- that sounds like an instinctive knowledge that this is not a good choice, at least for now.

When I know my family will be having cake, I make myself a Mug Cake. 1 scoop Protein powder (I've used banana, chocolate and blueberry), 1 scoop Carbquik (can also use a nut flour plus baking soda), an egg, a scoop of cottage cheese, ricotta, or greek yogurt, and add milk until it looks like batter. Microwave in a bowl or larg mug for 1-1.5 minutes. When I say scoop, it's the same scoop as the Protein Powder so all equal parts.

I am a person where "everything in moderation" does not work. Quirks of having an addictive personality. That goes with smoking, drinking and of course eating. So I stay away from ALL sweets, ice cream ,cake, candy, chocolate, etc. But that Mug Cake sounds amazing and is perfect for special occasions. Thanks for the recipe!

Moderation works for me. I log every bite. I try to stay away from those sweets.. But still log it all.

Guilt is a waste of emotions. I know because I was raised to feel guilty as a Roman Catholic. Lol Changing your behaviors requires, commitment and repeated new behaviors. Give yourself a break. Just don’t give up. Keep moving forward towards better health. Use the healthy map that works for your over all goals. If that means a little sugar every few months then who has the right to judge you. Work at being healthy you are worth it!

Tell it! So true the brain gets pissed at artificial sweeteners and makes you seek out real deal. Then turns into fat as it knows not what to do. Trust me biggest Diet Coke whore alive. Took going through this process to finally get it. I had no shame D Coke w/ Breakfast sure why not. Anyway not sure how it will be for me sugar wise post op but been off it now since March! Thanks.

Tonetone I was not diabetic before surgery but I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and pcos. Therefore, I really should stay away from all processed foods.

I am reading a pound of cure by Dr. Weiner, which explains well how processed foods impact our natural weight regulating thermostat. I had surgery to change my life for the better. I realize This was just a slip and part of my journey.

Is that book good so far?I may have to pick it up. I was speaking moreso on my behalf, my regulating mechanism is not wanting to go back on meds.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
