brittanylau 42 Posted May 22, 2016 Okay so this really isn't a question or anything but just looking for support. I've had at least 3 breakdowns today wondering if this surgery was the right choice for me. I know I should look at it long run and know that in the end it'll be worth it but right now it doesn't seem that way. I'm having such a hard time with finding things I like to eat, trying new things and keeping my mind off of living to eat instead of eating to live. I just need some uplifting words, yes I am still a teenager living at home and both my parents were sleeved 3 years ago but bringing up to my mom for help and having her give suggestions that I don't like she gets upset with me and then tells me not to ask her for help so I've stopped. You guys are like my family so I need the help and support from you guys as well as silly as that sounds Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OKCPirate 5,323 Posted May 22, 2016 Most of us had the same feelings. Some because surgery is just scary. Some because it will lead to inevitable change with our relationship with food. Some because it might change their family relationships. You have a couple of weeks, so might I suggest: http://www.amazon.com/The-Emotional-First-Aid-Kit/dp/0976852659 Very helpful to me to help ID the cause of the anxiety. Good luck, can't wait to see your progress and remember what you are experiencing is normal. I hope your surgery was as easy as mine.
KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 22, 2016 @@brittanylau Much of what you are feeling is hormonal. What kind of foods do you like and what stage are you on? Maybe someone will have some good suggestions (unless your favorite food is Pasta and cake). I would also encourage you to get some counseling - it really helps to work thru emotional eating and finding ways to cope with cravings. Stay strong!!!
