Im 6wks out of my sleeve surgery and im feeling down about my progression...I walk everyday atleast a mile, moat of the time 2 miles...I increase my speed each day and even though its walking i sweat and get my heart rate up as the Dr told me to...I have an appt woth my Dr on July 14th ans he said he wamtwd to see and additional 40 gone by then and i still cant wrap my mind around it....So at this point im stuck at 32lbs down from surgery day and on top of that, i dont even feel it...I know every1 around me says how they see it but i feel like my mind hasnt caught up to my body yet and its really bringing me down...Ive seen posts before of similar story's and it was hard to believe some1 could loose that much weight and not see or feel it but now im understanding how possible it is...I really dont know what i expected and im def not feeling like i thought i would...Any suggestions or advice??? Tyia

I felt the same way. I was a very slow loser the first 3 months and the amount I did lose I could not see at all. All of a sudden I started to lose weight rather quickly and finally at about 60lbs down, I could totally see it, and so did everyone else. I am now 9 months out and 96lbs down, so close to that 100lb mark, and I feel amazing. I really thought I was going to be the docs first failure, and I am not. It will happen and you will see it, all in good time. As I used to read be patient, it is hard, but be patient, good luck

32 pounds is 6 weeks is a huge accomplishment! I hope you are celebrating those milestones!!

For me I have found that Water and Protein is key. More so then exercise.

One day at a time. Just follow the program and it will happen!

You are doing great, please don't compare yourself to others because it really is something you can't control. Your body will lose at the rate it decides.

Wanted to also mention that as you lose weight, all the hormones stored in the fat you're losing gets flushed back into your system and can cause epic mood swings - depression and anger and weeping are common throughout this time and could last months and months. Just a heads up so you don't freak out, and also just in case you already are feeling so down without really knowing why - don't get caught up in the feelings of worthlessness or depression because they are being ruled by that hormone dump right now!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
