3 days post-op, quick question

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all! So I was sleeved on Wednesday and I have a quick question: Is it normal to be able to drink around 8 oz of a Protein Shake in 30 minutes? I'm still on mostly liquids however I'm starting pureed soon. I'm just worried this is too much since I'm only 3 days post-op. Sorry if this is a stupid question or has already been posted.

Thanks and God bless! :)

it's liquids so it will pass through fairly quickly. I'd guess you're one of those who the swelling is going down more quickly. I was like that too.

are you having pain or discomfort at this pace?

No, I haven't had any pain since I first came out of surgery. My incisions are somewhat uncomfortable but that's about it. Although now that I'm sitting here it's more like an hour, not 30 min to drink it. I guess it just feels faster.

I wasn't able to until after a few weeks but remember others were able to.

I had little trouble drinking any fluids, even cold water! When I saw my surgeon on Thursday for my 1 week post op, i told him how easy it is for me and he said GOOD! I told him my first soft food meal of scrambled eggs went down too easy and he laughed and reminded me that I am used to the lap band fullness I had for 10 years and that is why this seems easier

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
