charley27 164 Posted May 21, 2016 This is hard to believe in even CONSIDERING surgery, let alone have my consultation Thursday. I just want to be skinny so bad. When I was 14, my mom said if I can ever fit into a size 2, she will buy me a new wardrobe. Now, 295 pounds (ish) and a size 22, it might actually be a reality. I just want it to happen. I don't have to do anything for the surgeon or insurance except get a psych evaluation. I'm hoping I can have the surgery by July 1, but since that's in like 5 weeks... I doubt it. I don't plan to tell anyone except my mom and husband. Idk what to do at this point, I'm driving myself crazy with researching and anticipating. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted May 21, 2016 Best of luck. Let us know how you are doing through the process. I do hope you are doing this for yourself and your health, and not because of unrealistic expectations from your mom, though.

charley27 164 Posted May 21, 2016 Oh no, definitely for myself! I've wanted to do it for years but I didn't because I was embarrassed. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
lunarose 97 Posted May 21, 2016 For me it was four weeks between my initial consult and surgery but I was self paid which does go faster. Just remember it is a tool and not a magic bullet you still have to work at it. You will still have issues with head hunger but the sleeve makes it so much easier to handle. MissMac 163 Posted May 21, 2016 My original goal was to get from 235 down to 135. The doctor says that she is quite happy with 150 and that a panniculectomy and liposuction would get rid of another 10.
Read2016 658 Posted May 21, 2016 Take a deep breathe, relax... Getting this surgery is a process, you need all the patience you have to get from the start to the surgery... There is also pre surgical testing, not sure if that's patient specific or everyone does all the same test but that will slow the process down too... It's going to happen, just might not be on your anticipated time table... Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
charley27 164 Posted May 21, 2016 Thanks! I don't have much testing I have to do, just the psych evaluation Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Read2016 658 Posted May 21, 2016 @@charley27, that's all the insurance requires... No surgeon is going to give you surgery without running some testing such as blood work, ekg etc... These test are for your safety. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
charley27 164 Posted May 21, 2016 Oh yeah blood work and ekg I'm sure. That's all stuff he will do in his office that I won't have to wait for. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Jane???? 63 Posted May 21, 2016 I weigh 300 and I've just gotten to the point where I can't live the way I want to. I love my job as a teacher and it's getting harder to do it with all this weight to carry around and I'm with young kids I want to be able to play around with them, take field trips and not be limited or even have my own children and have enough energy to be with them when I get home Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted May 21, 2016 No, they don't do blood tests and EKGs in doctors' offices. Those are done in medical labs where they have med techs and proper equipment.
charley27 164 Posted May 21, 2016 Yep I've gotten many blood tests and EKGs in my doctors offices. If the surgeon nurses won't do it my pcp in the same building will like they have many many tomes Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Where is this surgeon? Seems like he's wonderful!!! LadyK44 263 Posted May 22, 2016 The only thing I want to say is please remember this surgery is just a tool. For lifetime changes it will take both psychological and behavioral changes that nobody can do but you. I wish someone had told me how much this process would change my life. I have no regrets. I am still learning. I wish everyone great health. Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App
