So Pissed Off At Subway!

Recommended Posts

So I eat a lot of Subway salads. I'm there multiple times a week. I loved their salads because with my sleeve they lasted 2-3 days. Not anymore! Went there today and they changed them. They have a new bowl size that is more than half smaller than the original one. Of course the price has remained the same. So what lasted me 2-3 days now is the size of one meal for a sleeved individual. Frustrated. This may be the first time that I actually contact a company to complain. What, is lettuce so freaking expensive now that they have to cut back?

I used to get Subway salads because they were giant and lasted days. I found it annoying that they count out exactly 4 pieces of turkey, but oh well. If they changed their size to much smaller, I would not be ordering it anymore either.

Aldi has bagged garden salads for under $1 (just had a sale on them for 69¢). I buy a few of them, make up my own salad and could throw them in a insulated lunch bag to take on the road/work. Even with cheese, Protein (shrimp or chicken) and dressing and things like avocado (also cheap at Aldi - regular avocados go for 29¢), I am spending about $5 for days of salads that are way tastier than someplace like Subway.

And it takes me about 15 minutes to prep several salads and throw the containers in the fridge to pull out as needed. I'll be it takes longer to drive to the fast food joints and wait in line every day. ;)

Even regular grocery stores have decent sales on salads (if you don't have an Aldi near you). I used to buy the kits, but they're high in fat and carbs sometimes, so I just buy the greens and add-ins separately.

I actually do that too. I buy the bagged greens at Walmart and then add grilled chicken or tuna, sometimes salmon. It's just that I do love the Subway salads with chipoltle dressing and it just pisses me of that they did this.

I get the salads from Chick Fil A that have the apple, strawberry, blueberry, nuts, and grilled chicken. SO good and it lasts 2-3 meals. I'm about 11 months post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
