Did you get written guidelines from your team? They will usually include a list of approved and unapproved foods.

I could eat sushi when I was on soft foods stage (which for me was at two months, it might be different for you) but was allowed fish only, no rice, no seaweed.

Ask your nutritionist

Once you're cleared for all food then you can have sushi. I recommend sashimi....no rice

Sashimi is thicker cuts of fish with no rice at all. That's usually what I eat. Once I was cleared for soft foods (I think at like 6 weeks?) I ate sashimi. So good and good Protein (usually get salmon, but love me some red snapper and tuna as well).

I do eat 1-2 pieces of a sushi roll now but I'm about 1.5 years out from surgery and I still try not to eat that much rice any more. It's yummy, but fills you up too much and the fish is way better anyway.

Salmon sashimi is my absolute favorite. I also tried urchin recently and loved it

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
