You cannot/will not poop out your staples. Really.

Tell that to my sore bum. If it's not the staples, then what is it??

Your move, know it all.

Last week it was your knees that hurt. ;)

Your husband is a lucky guy.

OH! Drop the mic! Man that was good. Well played @@LipstickLady, well played.

I was an ER nurse. You'd be amazed how little the average person knows about their anatomy and functioning of their body.

I get it. I don't know many things until I start googling. But these were fascinating to me:

I am well aware it's not an easy way out. I also mentioned I was referring to people with no medical complications who needed to lose 40-50lbs only! From your stats you are hoping to lose 70lbs and you have comorbities. Big difference in what I was referring to!

Well, I only had 40-50 lbs to lose with ZERO comorbidities. And I went to Mexico to have surgery. So I am one of the people you are referring to. I am not anorexic. No eating disorders. I just want to say, everyone has a story, so while you hate when people are uninformed and judgy regarding your surgery, you are being the same towards mine. I had anxiety and depression from being overweight (although I wasn't obese, so is that ok?). I yo-yo dieted all the time and was only getting older and more overweight. I was on a slippery slope and decided to nip this in the bud and get the surgery before I was morbidly obese with comorbidities. Since surgery I have had zero depression and anxiety. I am in the best shape of my life, workout all the time because it is now easy to, and eat healthier than ever. So judge away and think you have all the answers about who should be getting surgery, but you don't know. You just don't. It literally saved my sanity.

I had a live swallow test, too. I thought most everyone did. Huh...

Sorry, I don't even know what a "live swallow test" is.

Success?

Failure?

They have you drink a solution while watching your digestive system using X-ray. This way they can see if you have a stricture or if everything is working as designed.

Ah, thanks. Never heard of that. Heard of a leak test, but not swallow test.

I guess hit dogs will holler.

If you are happy with your choice, you wouldn't have to defend it so hard.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
