I was banded on June 28th of this year by Dr. Stephen Malley in Overland Park, KS. I have so far lost 15 lbs. I received my second fill yesterday, and they got it too tight. Lost 3 lbs overnight, couldn't even sip Water. Really awful. I went back this morning though, and they removed 1 cc and it made a huge difference. I guess I truly believed that the weight would just fly off. It's taking a little time though. I've always been a little inpatient.:whoo: I started at 232 lbs, & because of my bone strructure, I think I would look great somewhere between 145-155. I think the best advice for anyone out there researching is that this is not necessarily "easy". It is a wonderful tool to help us achieve weight loss, but there is still a lot of work involved. It is a very emotional journey. Good luck to anyone considering. And if there is anyone out there considering Dr. Malley, you couldn't ask for a more caring physician or nursing staff. He's very quiet, but he listens. And he's a very casual person. Not your normal pompous ass in loafers, driving a Mercedes, only willing to give you three minutes of his "precious" time. Dr. Malley is one in a million.

Congrats on getting banded! I was banded July 31st by Dr. Malley as well. I agree with you completely, it takes work to lose the weight and to get used to the new eating habits but at least it's working. Also, I too agree that Dr. Malley is one in a million. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. He's caring and did such a wonderful job. I've had no problems whatsoever...thank goodness. I came out of surgery with minimal pain, minimal gas pains. By the time I went home, I felt great and still feeling great! I'm glad I'm a Malley patient! Again, good luck with your journey!:clap2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
