Hey everyone- i had my RNY on Monday 5/16 and just got home today. Finally started phase 1 diet yesterday afternoon and had my first home cooked Beef broth and Jello-O shot for dinner. But I am freaking hungry! How have others handled this issue? I can't wait until I can get 1/2 a scrambled egg and some refried beans!!

@@RouxDude

Are you sure it's your actual physical hunger or your head hunger ?

I had horrible horrible appetite before surgery, had mine on 5/13 and have not been hungry yet, seems I spend all day sipping on liquids to get my requirements in that I don't even have enough room to eat more than 1/4 of food per sitting. How many times a day do you eat?

I mean don't get me wrong, when my husband made himself burgers for lunch, they smelled amazing but I knew it's not on my plan so I just kept reminding myself what I am doing and why, helps with the head hunger.

I too had my RNY on Monday! I got home yesterday, and the tacos my family had smelled ok, but I had no desire whatsoever for them. Of course, I still have a lot of pain on my left side, and am still taking my pain meds. I'm doing good to get my 4 ounces of Protein Shake 3 xs a day and Water requirements down.

I'm 2 weeks out and feeling hungry often as well. I'll eat, then about 2 hours later I'm starving. Disappointed that I'm already hungry

Day three, just started the full liquid diet. Sitting here sipping my Protein Shake and it is going down way too easily--could easily finish the 8oz in half an hour if I weren't making myself take my time. Not really feeling hungry though. My mother made pizza for her and my critter last night and while it smelled good I had no desire to eat any. Every person is different I guess.

Have you seen The Revenant? Well the scene where Leo crawls out of the woods and gets some of that raw meat is what I felt like after finally getting to eat some cream of wheat this morning!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
