deanieluv6 70 Posted May 18, 2016 My surgery is May 25 , 2016. My daughter doesn't want me to have this surgery done. And I've almost changed my mind. Thing I can do this on my own , which I have failed . One of my son's said , 'you've always wanted this, it's a fresh start , do it for you, don't listen to anyone else'. So I'm getting my gastric bypass, and I'm looking forward to my new life. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using the BariatricPal App
Daniel2015 262 Posted May 18, 2016 Time to be selfish and attend to your needs. It's like putting the oxygen mask on yourself first. You can be the best mom when your the healthiest mom. Taking a small reprieve to get stronger and healthier in the long run is "big picture smart"-in my opinion. :-) Best of luck! ~Daniel Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What is your daughter afraid of? If I may ask My mom doesn't want me to have it either. She feels as if I would fall into depression if I lose too fast and have too much hanging skin. I'm doing this for me and you should hold your head up high and be proud of the decision you made???? To me it seems like this is selfishness or jealousy of her feeling this way. I understand worrying about someone but staying the way you are is not any safer either. This is your chance, if you don't take it, you will not know!I am 5 days post op, I was terrified but on my road to recovery and new me!

KristenLe 5,979 Posted May 19, 2016 I'm sure it's out of fear more than anything. I would be petrified if my Mom was having major surgery. I'm a major worry wart when it comes to my loved ones!
