Cleanliness after surgery

Recommended Posts

What a great idea, I didn't know you could order parts for it. I visited Thailand in 2014 for a month, and you couldn't flush toilet paper there, so they had the spray attached to a hose to wash yourself off with afterward, and if you still chose to use TP there was a garbage can in which to throw it away. It felt so clean! I felt awful coming home and returning to paper to basically just smear it around with.

Back to the original question though, I also contort myself to clean up, but I had no issue with it in hospital after surgery. It just took me a little bit longer because I was moving a bit slower is all.

I tried searching for this and found nothing so I suppose I will ask.

I am able to, with some contorting, to clean myself after a BM. I can't imagine being able to do that after surgery for a while. I am short and big, 5'2" and 314 currently, and carry most my weight in my stomach area.

Please tell me I won't need someone to assist me doing *that* after surgery.

No worries !!! it's gonna be sooo long after surgery that you will be able to make a bowel movement that you will be all healed with the sutures in your stomach …

The incisions are small and the pain is minimal so it shouldn’t really be an issue

Or the seat replacement type off eBay for around $100.00. I had a multi level spinal fusion and could no longer wipe. I bought the bidet seat replacement around 9 yrs ago. It tees right into the toilet Water supply and blast your Cornhole clean.

I think you’ll be okay. But also- ask around- a lot of people struggle with having a BM after surgery, so the silver lining to that is you shouldn’t be in a predicament all too frequently.

Cant believe we brought back a thread about sht (literally) from 2016. Anyway one of the best NSV's was being able to wipe sitting down for the first time in years after losing weight in the belly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
