Do only 20% of RNYers experience dumping syndrome?

Then I guess I have never experienced dumping! But I was told by several including a nurse and a registered dietician that it was dumping. They both said you don't have to experience those other symptoms like shaking, cramps, etc to be dumping!!

they are, quite simply, wrong.

the term "dumping" comes from the fact that insulin is "dumped" into your blood, causing symptoms like shaking/flushing/cramps. the foaming and excess production of saliva and regurgitation of that with food has nothing to do with your insulin levels, it's your body's reaction to having the stomach's stoma blocked.

It doesn't matter to me what it is called as long as I haven't had those symptoms!

just drives me crazy that people in the medical profession dealing with bariatric patients are not only so grossly misinformed, but pass that misinformation onto the patient.
