How did you find out you had approval? Was it a call from your clinic or a letter from them? My claim was finally submitted last Friday (two weeks late.) My online account doesn't show anything being sent in yet. Starting to get worried that it really didn't get sent in.

I called the insurance company every other day to get an answer.

Yes, call! They will tell you. My husband was approved in 1 day, but the letter didn't come saying so for 3 more days! Mine took a couple days and letter followed, but I still called :)

I found out I was approved from the clinic. BCBS FEP reps would not tell me over the phone. When I asked them if I would get a letter I was told no the decision would go to the clinic. My understanding it takes 4 - 5 days for a response from time of submission. Which I can say is what I waited to get an answer. If you call the customer service number they can verify they have your package. Good luck!

How long was it before you got it?

Maybe 4 business days. But from what I am seeing, I think BCBS of AZ (Fed group tho) is exemplary and may be the exception to the rule.

Yea, I am a believer of being proactive! Don't wait on others if you can find out yourself!

I generally am too but I've had a go around with my clinic. They've delayed submitting my claim because the person over mine changed jobs. Now people who started two weeks after me have dates. Every time I call the clinic it's something different!

I'm in California so things were processed here. Took about two weeks, and I got a call from BCBS informing me of the approval. The nurse who called me had apparently been sleeved herself and was brimming with advice...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
