Hi all,

I have been banded for over two months now and I am feeling a bit depressed. The first week i dropped 9lbs and then went on to lose a further 5lbs by the second week. However I am now well into the 3rd month and have not lost anything at all. I have contacted the surgeon who peformed the op and he has told me in (not so many words) to start the first phase of the post-op stage again. I feel

disheartened as I already know that I will lose the weight if I go back to stage one, as I will be only fuelling my body with liquids. The first month after the op I felt a lot of restriction which has now subsided, I basically want that back as that limited my food intake, now I am back to normal eating the same portions sizes I had done pre-op. I was told by the surgeon that I should not need a fill as the band on it's only should reduce my weight but, I feel everyone is different and maybe a fill is what i really need to kick-start my weight lose again. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Who the heck is your surgeon and why won't he/she give you a fill? That just seems ridiculous. Of course you have lost restriction now... your stomach is healed from surgery! You need a fill. Go bug your doc till you get one! Or at least find out exactly what his fill policy is. Don't give up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
