Does it always take 6 months to get a date?

Recommended Posts

I have my first appointment June 1st, honestly, I'd love to get the surgery over the summer (as this is when I have the most help/time off), But.... I doubt this is possible? I have a couple friends who had surgery with the same guy I have a consult with. (A preferred surgeon through my insurance, thus being covered at a higher rate) And she said it took 6 months. She also said if I was to be more flexible with scheduling appointments. (With nutritionist, psychologist, etc.) It could go faster. But how much faster?

@@Tina4heath4ever It will also depend on your insurance requirements. Many have a 6 month supervised weight loss program requirement - or 3 months in some cases. I would contact your insurance (if you haven't already) and find out what is needed to get approved for a prior auth (try and get it in writing).

I have contacted them, they require proof of 6 months of weight loss effort on my own in the last 2 years. I have done Lindora, Nutrasystem, and weight watchers in that time. I don't know if this will be sufficient or not?

@@Tina4heath4ever As long as you have documentation - it should be okay. I was originally told by my insurance that I needed 6 months of a supervised weight loss program starting the day of my surgeon consult. At my 2nd NUT appointment - I was told that was not the case and I didn't need 6 months (per the Insurance Coordinator). It seems that the typical wait for surgery is 3-6 months in most places.

I started in February. It has taken 6 months to meet all the requirements of my insurance. Should be sleeved late June or early July. I was very disappointed having to wait so long, however the journey with all the appointments have taught me a lot. It has also taught me patience and to get my brain properly prepared. It goes by pretty fast. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

Well, I know I have some, my worry is that i don't have all. My friend said though that her "took her word for it?" Though I'm not sure if this is totally true since it took 6 months to get her date.

I started my process in September or August of 2015 and will be having surgery in July. Every insurance company is different and the place you have it at may require certain things

I just started the process in May. I am trying to jump through the hoops as quickly as possible. I would love an August or September date, but realize it could be much longer.

Weight watchers didnt count for me. Had to be a doctor, which seemed silly to me, but depends again on your insurance. They are sure different.

This is what I'm hoping to do... we'll see!

@@Qwalla Well poop! Lindora should count I would think, but that was only for 10 weeks. Maybe it would knock off some time though? Who knows.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
