I loved deviled eggs at that stage! Sorry that's not a good suggestion but I didn't eat much at that stage, eggs and canned chicken were my go too.

When I was on soft foods I ate refried Beans with cheese, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, tuna, grilled salmon, etc. I didn't have room for much more than the Protein. I did start having some green Beans on occasion, but I certainly wouldn't have had room for mashed potatoes (plus, I avoid starches).

The World According To Eggface blog has some recipe ideas for the soft phase.

It's not something I would have made before the surgery but I sure enjoyed it as one of my first solids!

One of my favorite things I've had so far:

A grill pack made if squash, zucchini, and onion. Grilled in foil until soft. SO GOOD!

-Tilapia.. skillet cooked in cooking wine with blackening seasoning.

-Sloppy Joe with ground turkey or high grade ground beef.

-baked potato with shredded chicken breast.. shredded low fat cheese.

-Baked sweet potato

-Egg white omelette with mushrooms, onion, ham, and cheese.< /p>

-beef sticks or Jerky.

-Tuna salad

-Salmon patties

....just some of the things I've made and handled well.

....oh... and sugar free vanilla pudding with bananas .. top with no sugar added cool whip!

I would put tomatoes and other veggies with my eggs. Cottage cheese us good in Protein as well. a little parm cheese in with the eggs. I just explored on my own with my foods. Its a hit and miss really. some people cant stomach certain things after surgery, me for one. I cant eat rice anymore not even a grain, comes right back up.

I really did not care for grits before. Now i love them. Follow cooking method on package. close to the end of the cooking process add an egg and mix it. Adds creaminess. So good

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
