On so upset.... I thought today I'd be scheduling my weight loss surgery but nope. I found out I have to wait 6 dam months. I have to start all over! I've done everything right. But my stupid Dr quit his office n didn't tell any one. Plus I was told I had to wait 6 months but was never told I had to have a Dr visit every month to qualify !! I just want to give up. I can't get anything right. I hate my life. Not saying I'm gona kill myself so don't think that I'm just done trying. I can't get any help anyway

Thank u

I'm so sorry! That really stinks! Someone at the dr's office really let you down by not filling you in on all the requirements. I am sorry you have to find a new dr but hopefully the office staff will be more competent. Make them give you the requirements in writing.

Call your insurance and get a copy of your policy so you know what it states for surgery. Ask the office of the Doctor that quit if the doctor left contact info., if so reach out and ask for whatever it is you need. It's frustrating but it maybe a sign that you weren't in the hands of the right doctor.

@@snugelkin That sucks! I'm sorry you are dealing with this - it's hard enough when everything goes as planned. Contact your insurance and find out what you need to do to get back on track. I was told 6 months of supervised weight loss - but found out last month that this is not the case (hopefully someone didn't screw up that info). Find a great Bariatric Program in your area (with more than one physician) so you can get this done!! Stay strong!!!!

I agree with the above. If the surgeon left the office and didn't tell anyone... maybe you should be thankful because you might end up with a better surgeon. That is ridiculous. I had a printout, and I spoke directly to my insurance company. When I had my first consult I was happy that the office had also contacted my insurance co and had my requirements (and they matched the info I had) Don't give up... I was upset I had to wait too. But how long have you been trying to lose weight? How long have you been at a weight you weren't happy with... six more months won't be so horrible.

I would think if your not comfortable with the new doctor you would have an option to change. Unfortunately I've learned the hard way, you can't depend on others to get information correct. Best to get it from the horse's mouth, please call you insurance so you can be an informed patient.

Same happened to me. My insurance said my paper worked looked fine. I worked on getting my other requirements. Later insurance did not accept my claim as I need to have a dr. Sign off for 6 weigh ins. I could have scheduled these earlier and had met that requirement if they had just been more specific. I was very upset. However, trying to stay positive and thinking I will just keep going with this. I have 2 more months. Time does fly by. The extra time gives you time to mentally prepare. Just keep moving forward. Think, it will mean even more to you once you've satisfied those requirements. You can do it!!!

I had to start over once because my pcp went on vacay in December for 2 weeks and i was 5 months in. I know the feeling. I cried my eyes out. Hang in there it will go quickly.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
